Participating in a live session of figure drawing in pastel is totally insane, exciting, and an exhilarating experience. It is like you are driving a 100 miles an hour in a race to get as far as you can in the few hours. When the time is up you have to stop cold, but it feels like the momentum’s energy continues. To cope, a lot of artists use an unvarying method in their techniques. But I like to turn myself into a current of energy observing what is before me: feeling the mood, the body language, the light, and make free associations, and draw as damn fast as I can. I never know what the outcome will look like, yet there is huge driving purpose: to go beyond my limitations and try new things I have never done before.
